Round 10: Wardsville (102)

Sundays round was a great time, spending fathers day with my dad and brother-in-law at Wardsville, a 27-hole course outside of London.

Putting: after struggling with the speed of the greens at Toronto Golf Club the day prior, I took a while to adjust to how slow the Wardsville greens were. Fortunately they are closer to the speed of Marlwood which I play most often, so by the back 9 I was able to improve my putting substantially.

Chipping: my chipping was a strength in my game, both with flop and bump and run shots. Had I putted a bit better and been able to sink a few more in the the 8 to 15 foot range, I could have improved my score significantly. I am pleased to see all the practice time around the greens beginning to pay off.

Short irons (SW to 8): I was quite pleased with the way I was hitting my short irons, though once again had a tendency to pull the ball left of the target. I believe this is a result of the fade that I have with my long irons. As a result, I often aim left of the target, but need to remember that I hit my short irons straight, so should be aiming on target.

Long irons (5 to 7): again the biggest weakness in my game, my long irons simply need to improve. Beyond that, I am going to begin using my driver, since my accuracy with the long irons simply has not improved at the rate that I would like to see. I’m giving up far too much distance off the tee to still potentially be going OB.

Overall, it was a great fathers day spent with family, and had I putted just a bit better, know I could have easily broken 100 on the course.
